From Pondicherry to Sustainable Living
How a journey inspired students to rethink home décor through bamboo and wicker.
A visit to Auroville, near Pondicherry, sparked a fresh perspective on sustainable living, inspiring students to make conscious material choices for home décor. This inspiration evolved into a creative exploration of bamboo and wicker, celebrated through World Bamboo Day.
From observation to prototype
The process began with observing natural materials, researching their properties, and exploring their potential in contemporary interiors. Students moved from initial concepts and sketches to experimenting with forms, weaving techniques, textures, and functional applications. Through material exploration, prototyping, and refinement, they transformed their ideas into thoughtfully designed home décor products.
Traditional materials, modern homes
Each creation reflects a balance between functionality, aesthetics, sustainability, and craftsmanship—demonstrating how traditional materials can inspire innovative design solutions for modern homes.
From inspiration to material exploration, from sketches to finished products—designing a more sustainable way of living.
